A back story into Damgate Antiques and Interiors. 10 years ago, with an ardent passion for antiques and vintage furniture, I was lucky enough to join Wymondham Antiques Centre as one of their traders. I soon established a solid friendship with a hugely experienced dealer named Mike. Buying and selling together around Norfolk for many years, we became quite the team. However, following one of our typical weekend stints at a local fair, I unknowingly said goodbye to Mike that Sunday for the last time. He tragically passed away that evening. Mike continues to be missed by so many dealers. With his vast knowledge and kind nature, he was revered as one of the best in the trade. Before his passing, Mike owned Damgate Antiques in Wymondham— a shop so loved that people still make inquiries about it to this day. While the shop was closed and sold, the building is now being carefully restored and transformed into a residential dwelling. Mike encouraged me to follow my passion for antiques and all things old. As such, while Mike and Damgate Antiques may be gone, I hope that my continued trade at Wymondham Antique’s centre, and the running of this website, pays homage to him: my truly great and inspirational friend. Mike will forever have my gratitude for the influence and impact he had on my life. I will cherish the memories we made together, imagining that he is at an auction in the sky somewhere, guiding me with the passion he had for the trade.
